The AmoebArena Player Editor allows you to change the names of any of the characters, their static picture, or any expression movie. If you have AmoebArena¬ version 1.0 please see the version constraints below. The AmoebArena Player Editor may be used to a limited degree on the AmeobArena demo.
In order to use the Player Editor some specific files must be located on the hard drive. These files are automatically installed if you have run the Optional Installation from the CD. Also, in order to work properly, the Player Editor must not be run simultaneously with the AmoebArena game.
If you are using the demo verison of AmoebArena, you can only change a character╒s name and static picture. This is because most of the QuickTime movies are not available in the Demo version.
When you first run the Player Editor, you are asked to locate AmoebArena. Normally, this will be in the AmoebArena (from HD) folder on your hard drive. If you have more than one copy of AmoebArena on your hard drive, the Player Editor will only be making changes to the one you select. The AA 256 Color file (which is installed when you run the Optional Installation), must be located in the same directory as the AmoebArena application. You must set the appropriate preferences (Show Player Fade-In Movies, Show Player Expressions, and/or Enable Idle Animation) in order for those movies to play during the game.
Changing a character╒s name or static picture will modify the AA 256 Color file. If you change any of the expression movies, the Player Editor will place the new version of the modified expression movie in the AmoebArena:Movies folder.
If you decide that you would like to see the original expressions again, delete the modified movies from the hard drive so AmoebArena will look for them on the CD. If you wish to restore player names or static pictures, you must copy the AA 256 Color file from the CD onto your hard drive, or re-run the Optional Installation. In the demo version of AmoebArena, the movies are not used.
ÑAmoebArena version 1.0 constraints ╤ Due to changes in the AmoebArena¬ application between versions 1.0 and 1.1, the Player Editor will not allow you to change the names of the characters in version 1.0. Also, the names will not appear in the dialog box where it asks you to choose a character to modify. However, if you choose to make changes to characters' movies or static pictures, these changes will still take effect.

NOTE: The PlayerEditor does not change the original files you use for the static pictures or expression movies. Your PICTs or QuickTime movies are left intact in their original locations╤AmoebArena will make copies of the files for its own use.
Instructions for use:
Once you are inside the Player Editor, you can start making changes. If you select ╥Change Player╒s Name╙, you will be prompted to select which character╒s name you wish to change. Select the character, and then type in the name you want (maybe your boss╒ name, or the name of your 3rd grade teacher who gave you a detention). Keep in mind that no matter what changes you make to any of the characters, they will always retain the same personality and game strategy.
You can also select to turn a series of PICTs into an expression movie. You will select the first PICT graphic you wish to have in the sequence, and then a dialogue will appear and offer you various options for the new expression movie (most of the time you will want to leave these at their defaults). You are then prompted for the rest of the PICTs you wish to add to the movie. If you choose a QuickTime movie for your expression, it will automatically convert it to your expression movie╤no further configuration necessary!
